Shishui Dingbu (step-stone) Bridge -- the longest ancient dingbu bridge in the world. Recently, the Geological Society of China announced the results of the fourth batch of technical achievements evaluation for the construction of geological and cultural villages (towns). Shiyang Town in Taishun County has been selected as one of the ten national three-star geological and cultural towns, the only one winning this title in Wenzhou. At present, only two towns in Wenzhou have been awarded as national geological and cultural towns, the other one is Guihu Town in Taishun County. Making full use of their endowments of geological resources, geological and cultural villages (towns) integrate geological science and culture with rural and township construction, develop characteristic industries and economies, improve the quality of life and cultural connotations of villages and towns, so as to develop characteristic villages (towns) that are suitable for living and working. Shiyang Town is located in the southern part of Taishun County, adjacent to Fuding City and Zherong County of Fujian Province. It is situated at the confluence of three creeks (Shoutai, Hongkou, and Pengxi), with a forest coverage rate of 78% and a total area of 83.27 square kilometers. There are also unique natural scenery in the town, such as Shiyang Creek, Shiyang Terraced Fields, Diabase Mining Site, Sanchongji Canyon Waterfall, and Wanpai Enchanted Tea Garden. From the perspective of geology and geomorphology, Shiyang is located in the Taishun volcanic eruption basin of the South China Fold Belt. Through the oldest strata in the southern part of Shiyang Town, the Early Cretaceous Xishantou Strata, geologists can research the geological evolution 140 million years ago. This area is rich in geological relics resources, including volcanic strata, volcanic landform, intrusive rock dyke, minerals, and other 41 geological relics (geological phenomena), all of which have unique representativeness and good ornamental value. In recent years, Shiyang Town, relying on its unique geological resources, has combined with the distribution characteristics of various tourism resources such as the piano bridges (another name of “dingbu bridge”, for its keyboard-like step stones), fragrant tea gardens, mineral pits to plan and construct an overall spatial layout of “one axis and three tour lines”. One axis, the Shishui Cultural Axis, forms the core cultural axis along the main street of Shiyang Town, with Shishui Dingbu Bridge, Zhangshi Mine, Cultural Center, Art Gallery, and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall on both sides. Three tour lines, that is, three study tour routes: the Tea & Cloud Line, the Geological Research Line, and the Revolutionary Monument Line. As of August, Shiyang Town has attracted 320,000 tourists and generated over 20 million yuan in tourism revenue. |
