Recently, "Yongxing Digital Urban Agriculture Park", a project launched in November 2022 has completed, and entered trial operation. It is known as a provincial core project of modern agriculture park in Yongxing Street, Longwan, Wenzhou. Its features of “digital agriculture + leisure & tourism” have attracted much attention from citizens.

Digital "Hardware" Gives Farmland a New Look

With a 55-million-yuan investment and a 2-square-kilometer area, the park has developed a mode of "digital agriculture demonstration + study & tourism experience". It is also designed to form a structure of “1 park, 2 zones and 5 centers”, namely the park itself, 2 zones of digital agriculture demonstration and study, and 5 centers of digital agriculture, farmers’ service, farmers’ training, agriculture research, and rural life service.

Currently, 3,000 mu (about 200 hectares) of the core zone in the park has been digitized, forming a full-purpose map of digital agriculture management. The intelligent agriculture SAAS system records environmental data and soil conditions, including crop species, land area, farmers’ information, and daily yields. Once diseases, pests, or weeds occur, alarming system will urge management personnel to take timely measures.

Besides, the park has also created platforms such as agriculture service center, agriculture technology training center, and crop hospital for the farmers. They can get immediate guidance from various experts to help them reduce production costs and increase quality.

Officials introduced the park will ultimately become a “digital brain” after it is put into use, covering the entire industrial chain of planting, processing, logistics, marketing, and trading. It will improve rice production efficiency, reduce fertilizer consumption, and promote the high-quality and digital development of agriculture.

Cultural Tourism Brings Life to Farmland

While digitalization is accelerating production, the innovation in cultural tourism is bringing continuous vitality to agriculture as well.

The park adopts the concepts of artistic and intelligent farmland to design the landscape of rice fields, digital agriculture demonstration center, and research base. The rice fields function as a teaching venue for the public, spreading the knowledge of labor education, study of crops, agriculture practices, and technology improvement. They also combine the thousand-year history of rice civilization with modern rural aesthetics.

According to the officials, the park has formed a line business of “rural pets”, “lotus tea”, and “outdoor weddings”. More projects including “rural markets”, “happy farm” and “rural life experiences” will be developed. At the same time, it will continue to hold events such as "harvest festival," "rice field music festival," and "rural art exhibition." With high-quality development of agriculture and cultural tourism, it strives to become a comprehensive place with the features of agriculture technology, culture communication, and scientific research.

After the trail operation, the park will provide more than 50 positions in the local job market, and the annual income is expected to exceed 6 million yuan, forming a set of replicable business model for modern agricultural park.
