The realistic and fun interactive experience in the Zhejiang Pavilion makes visitors feel like stepping into an ancient paintings.

The “Wenzhou’s Copyright” Exhibition Area

Yesterday, the five-day 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) was launched, dotted with brilliant “Wenzhou elements” such as the “Song-Flavored Wenzhou Culture” cultural space, the immersive experience of Listening to the Guqin and the exquisite shell carving craftsmanship.

“Song-Flavored Wenzhou Culture” reproduces the millennial trade port

This year’s ICIF has six offline venues with an exhibition area of 120,000 m2. Themed “Poetic Jiangnan, Vibrant Zhejiang”, the Zhejiang Pavilion in Hall 10 stood out in this cultural feast, presenting four key display areas of “Digital Culture”, “Cultural Tourism”, “Major Projects “ and “Cultural Space”.

In the Zhejiang Pavilion, the “Song-Flavored Wenzhou Culture” cultural space linked the two IPs of Wenzhou, i.e., the Shuomen Ancient Port and the Jiushan Association of Dramatists, and attracted visitors with its unique image design and rich content that gilded Wenzhou’s image as “a happy city featuring a millennial trade port”. It is learned that the Shuomen Ancient Port was named one of China’s top 10 new archaeological discoveries of 2022, which is the most important discovered ancient port serving the Maritime Silk Road so far at home and abroad. The ruins of the port are located outside the Shuomen Gate, or the north gate of the ancient city of Wenzhou, with a total area of 200,000m2. At the fair, the exhibition area highlights the ancient port in all its splendour and its unearthed artifacts, and presents a comprehensive picture of the millennial trade port through digital means.

The Jiushan Association of Dramatists is the center of the Nanxi Opera production and performance in Wenzhou during the Southern Song Dynasty(1127-1279). On December 10, 2022, the CCTV’s Spring Festival Opera Gala, in its 33-year history, moved its main venue outdoors from the studio to the Jiushan Association of Dramatists, bringing the Association to the limelight. At this ICIF, Wenzhou focused on presenting the evolution of the opera homeland and its modern heritage, and displayed the charm of the hometown of the Nanxi Opera through the live tea-making ceremony by artists dressed in opera costume.

On the morning of the same day, Zhejiang AUN Technology Co., which is committed to “the live transmission of the millennial Song-flavored culture”, welcomed a constant stream of curious visitors. They were drawn by the painting masterpiece of Listening to the Guqin from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), which is collected in the Palace Museum in Beijing but appeared digitally at the fair. As introduced by the company’s staff on site, the audience could “enter the painting with one click” because the painting used meta-universe technology to break through the constraints of time and space by digital means, making this time-honored painting dynamic and alive. With the accelerating digitization of the cultural industry, technological means such as CG technology and motion capture are becoming a reality through the efforts of companies such as AUN Technology.

The pieces of shell carving craftsmanship brought by Zhejiang Kandie Culture Co., Ltd. caught the eye of many visitors as well. “In fact, we are not only a production-oriented enterprise, but also a folk art museum with shell carving and conch lacquerware as the theme, that is, the Donghai Shell Carving Art Museum,” the staff at the exhibition told reporters.

“Wenzhou’s Copyright” debuts on the same stage with national copyright demonstration cities

“Wenzhou’s Copyright” made its debut on the same stage with the six “National Copyright Demonstration Cities” at the thematic show of “Copyright Empowering High-Quality Urban Development” held by the National Copyright Administration in Hall 9. Starting from this exhibition, Wenzhou will morph from a “ big copyright city” to a “strong copyright city” on its way to the “National Copyright Demonstration City”.

This year’s thematic show gathered seven major cities, including Chengdu, Weifang, Jingdezhen, Foshan, Nantong, Changsha and Wenzhou. As the only exhibiting city that is striving to become a “National Copyright Demonstration City”, Wenzhou fully showcases the role of copyright in building a city of design, arts and crafts, and history and culture in the “Wenzhou’s Copyright” exhibition area that takes “Copyright Facilitates Private Economy” as its theme and comprises the three sections of “Copyright+Fashion in Wenzhou”, “Copyright+ Design in Wenzhou” and “Copyright+ Arts & Crafts in Wenzhou”.

Notably, among the six exhibitors in the “Wenzhou’s Copyright” exhibition area this year, Zhejiang Zoenn Fashion Co. Ltd. and Wenzhou Opal Furniture Co. Ltd. are “National Copyright Demonstration Units”. The work brought by Zoenn Fashion uses modern illustration techniques to reinterpret the ancient paintings. And the work Coin Chair presented by Opal Furniture draws its inspiration from the Chinese saying of “taking the image of coin, round outside but square inside”, starting from traditional Chinese furniture and outlining the essence of a Ming Dynasty-style (1368-1644) round-backed armchair.

Yesterday morning, the “Wenzhou’s Copyright” exhibition area saw a number of visitors, including many foreigners. After receiving foreigners who came to inquire, Zhu Shoumiao, head of Rui’an Bisheng Culture Development Co. Ltd, also taught the audience to experience the wooden movable type printing in person. Various certificates of copyright registration were displayed next to representative pieces of movable type crafts such as Magic Cube Carousel, Thousand Characters in Movable Type Printing and the CPC Flag and Admission Oath.

In the section of “Copyright + Fashion in Wenzhou”, a piece of Ice-and-Snow Porcelain, symbolizing the 24th Winter Olympic Games held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, conveys the message of Beijing being the first city in Chinese history to host double Olympics. This work, displayed by Zhejiang Aiye Culture and Arts Co. Ltd, won the first Zhejiang Intellectual Property Copyright Award and attracted the audience to take photos.

In the section of “Copyright + Design in Wenzhou”, Top Bright Animation Co. Ltd, which has been exhibiting for many years, brought a series of children’s toys and other products. “Copyright innovation and protection has provided our company with a constant impetus for development,” said Zheng Jianli, director of the company’s Public Affairs Department. The company has garnered more than 1,000 copyright registration certificates, with a copyright conversion rate of more than 80% and a copyright conversion value of over 500 million yuan. “It can be said that the broad platform provided by the ICIF has enabled us to maintain a stable business relationship with more than 30 countries and regions.”

It is learned that since 2021, thanks to the efforts and guidance of the national and provincial copyright administrations, Wenzhou has been rolling out measures for building a national copyright demonstration city, with the four priorities of copyright “creation, application, management and protection”. When a whole chain of copyright development and protection is in place, copyright will empower the new dynamics of private economy in Wenzhou.
