AAAA-class China’s Cradle of Landscape Poetry Yongjia county has been widely recognized as an earthly paradise, and its Nanxi River is the masterpiece born from this land. The county’s name, “Yongjia”, can be interpreted as “long and beautiful waters” which exactly refers to the Nanxi River. The winding Nanxi River, spanning almost 150 kilometers, integrates natural sceneries and humanistic landscape. Along the river stand eight major scenic areas (Da’nanxi, Shiwei Rock, Daruo Rock, Taiping Rock, Zhenxi River, Yantan River, Sihai Mountain, and the Nanxi River Source), along with more than 800 natural attractions. Titled the national scenic area, China’s landscape villages, and World Geopark, the Nanxi River is renowned for its beautiful waters, peculiar rocks, numerous waterfalls, ancient villages, and lush forests, being the only one among China’s national scenic spots known for the beautiful pastoral and rural landscape.
