AAAAA-class World Geopark

Located on the northeast coast of Wenzhou city, the Yandang Mountain is one of China’s top ten mountains and among China’s first batch of national 5A-class scenic areas, endowed with extraordinary and picturesque landscape. The name “Yandang” is derived from the ode to the mountain that goes, “On top of the mountain sits a lake, where reeds growing wildly. A marshland (dang) is thus created, sheltering wild geese (yan) in autumn.”

Apart from its mountains and waters, the scenic area is also home to its unique peaks, waterfalls, caves, and cliffs, and has long been referred to as a “famous mountain on the sea”, “the best landscape in the world” and “the best mountain in southeast China”. With an area of 450 square kilometers and over 500 attractions distributed in its eight scenic areas, Yandang Mountain boasts various landscape, including peaks, rocks, caves, waterfalls and springs. Its Lingfeng Peak, Lingyan Rock, Dalongqiu Waterfall are the must-see scenic areas, where the night view of Lingfeng Peak, tightrope walking performance of Lingyan Rock, and the plunging waterfall of Dalongqiu are considered to be fabulous even across the country.
