The Second Affiliated Hospital and Yuying Children’s Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (SAHYCHWMU) is a provincial Grade A comprehensive hospital of Zhejiang, which boasts a full range of adult and pediatric disciplines. Founded in 1976, the hospital was first named Bethune Outpatient Department (Clinic) of Wenzhou Medical College. Under the approval of the then Health Department of Zhejiang Province, it was rebuilt as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College (SAHWMC) in 1982. In 1988, the name of “Children’s Hospital” was added to the hospital, which was renamed in 1991 “The Affiliated Yuying Children’s Hospital of WMC when Taiwanese compatriot Mr. He Chaoyu donated a new building for the Hospital. In 1995, the Hospital was approved as a provincial Grade A hospital. In 2005, the Hospital acquired Wenzhou Cardiovascular Hospital as its Nanpu Branch. In April 2009, the Orthopedics Hospital and the Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital, both affiliated with the Hospital were founded. Since 2013, the Hospital has been officially known as SAHYCHWMU..

Currently, the Hospital comprises three branches (sites): Longwan Branch, which includes the Rehabilitation Medical Center; Lucheng Branch, encompassing the Xueyuanlu Department and Nanpu Department; and Oujiangkou Branch. Functioning as an adult medical center, Longwan Branch concentrates on developing discipline groups related to tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and cerebrovascular diseases. Lucheng Branch has a solid medical foundation in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics, with a particular emphasis on developing comprehensive pediatrics discipline groups. Oujiangkou Branch is striving to excel in the field of orthopedics and trauma, concentrating on the establishment of a wide-ranging orthopedics discipline groups. Within the Hospital, there are diverse medical talents, including young and middle-aged experts with notable national contributions, experts enjoying the “State Council Special Allowance”, members of the “National Talent of the New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project”, exceptional talents, and leaders in scientific and technological innovation under the “Zhejiang Provincial Ten Thousand Talent Programme”.
