Founded in August 1959, the Seventh People’s Hospital of Wenzhou is the only municipal Grade A mental health specialized hospital in Wenzhou. This Hospital is entrusted with the responsibility of providing mental health-related medical services, teaching, scientific research, prevention, rehabilitation, psychological counseling, academic exchanges, and other related tasks for the city. The Hospital serves as the headquarters of the Wenzhou Municipal Mental Health Office. Additionally, it holds affiliations with various institutions, such as the Bio-X Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, acts as a collaborative hospital with both the Shanghai Mental Health Center and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and functions as a teaching hospital of Shandong Jining Medical University. Over the years, the Hospital has earned numerous honorary titles, including Zhejiang Safe Hospital, Zhejiang Health Promoting Hospital, Zhejiang Green Hospital, Zhejiang Smart Hospital, Zhejiang Elder-friendly Hospital, as well as being recognized as a Wenzhou Civilization Unit and a Wenzhou Demonstration Unit of Conservation-oriented Public Institution.

The Hospital comprises three branches, covering an area of 121.96 mu (approximately 81,306.7 square meters), with an overall floorage of 97,000 square meters and a capacity of 1100 beds in operation. Currently, the Hospital employs a total of 953 staff members, including 656 medical personnel.

Based on the treatment of mental illness, the Hospital has made great efforts to develop various sub-specialties, including general psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, pediatric psychiatry, emotional disorders, clinical psychology, psychosomatic medicine, sleep disorders, behavioral medicine, and developmental disorders. Accordingly, the Hospital has also established specialist outpatient clinics for substance dependence/smoking cessation, depression disorders, anxiety disorders, learning disorders/hyperactivity disorders, and TCM mental health.

The Hospital boasts several notable distinctions in terms of its specialties: one Zhejiang provincial key specialty in Clinical Psychology; one Wenzhou municipal top ten brand discipline in General Psychiatry; one Wenzhou municipal key discipline group in Geriatric Psychiatry; three Wenzhou municipal key disciplines in Behavioral Medicine, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Clinical Psychology. These distinctions have collectively fostered a favorable environment for the development of disciplinary gradients and cohesive groups within the Hospital’s framework.
