On the morning of November 28, 2024, a trio of significant events kicked off in Ouhai District: the China (Wenzhou) Men’s Wear Festival, the Second Wenzhou International Fashion Festival, and CHIC2024 Customization Exhibition (Wenzhou Station). Meanwhile, two major announcements were made: Wenzhou has been officially approved as “China’s Fashion Industry Capital (CFIC),” and the Alibaba 1688 Wenzhou Product Selection Center has been established in Ouhai.

The China Men’s Wear Festival and the China International Fashion Fair (CHIC), key IPs established by the China National Garment Association (CNGA), leverage “one festival and one exhibition” to gather the best men’s wear and custom resources in China’s fashion industry, driving collaborative innovation and integrated development across the entire garment industry chain.

The CNGA expressed its support for Wenzhou in carrying out the cultivation and construction of CFIC aiming to introduce global high-quality resources, convey advanced concepts, and expand cooperation in various aspects to promote Wenzhou’s fashion industry to new heights. CFIC Wenzhou Garment City Industry Public Service Platform was officially inaugurated, along with the signing ceremony for a batch of industry platform projects, including Wenzhou Daxiangcheng International Fashion Center Inauguration, the Wenzhou Garment Industry Education Integration, the Ouhai District Garment Industry Service, and the Wenzhou Fashion and Apparel.

The Ouhai District and Alibaba 1688 signed a cooperation agreement to build the 1688 Wenzhou Product Selection Center, providing a full industry chain sales platform for SMS enterprises. Through the “front hall plus rear warehouse” model, it efficiently aggregates orders and promotes the integration of the real economy with the digital economy. Alibaba 1688, recognizing the locational advantages of Daxiangcheng, has already signed an intention agreement with Ouhai District for key projects in the garment industry service sector, forming a one-stop, full-category fashion industry ecosystem in Ouhai.

Garment is a key pillar industry in Wenzhou, as well as a distinctive regional industry. Since the reform and opening up, Wenzhou’s garment industry has been successively recognized as a demonstration city for the “Three Strategies” (increasing variety, enhancing quality, and creating brands) of the consumer goods industry by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and has become one of the top five industrial clusters in the national garment industry, boasting six national-level icons, such as “China Men’s Wear Capital” .

Ouhai District, aiming to build the “Western Wenzhou Fashion City” and create a hundred billion fashion industry cluster that covers “all aspects of attire,” has brought together a variety of business formats including men’s, women’s, and children’s wear, as well as fabrics and accessories. Also, it has established a comprehensive “ten-in-one” industry chain that encompasses design and development, fashion shows, and cloud shopping platforms. Additionally, Ouhai has given rise to industry leaders such as Semir, Desai, and XueGe; focusing on men’s and women’s suits and fashion customization, it has developed a fashion industry platform centered around the Wenzhou South Railway Station commercial area and Wenzhou Garment City, fostering the aggregation and development of well-known brands and high-quality enterprises. Furthermore, it has established the China Garment Customization Industry Base and a provincial modern textile and apparel industry cluster collaboration zone. At present, Ouhai’s garment industry output value accounts for more than 60% of the city’s total industrial share, further polishing the signboard of “Chinese fashion is in Wenzhou, and Wenzhou fashion is in Ouhai.”
