In the past few days, there has been a surge of activity in the fields of Panqiao Village, Ouhai District, as farmers take advantage of the beautiful spring weather to fully engage in transplanting the rice seedlings.

The fertile land of Wenzhou is reviving. On the permanent basic farmland under the centralized and continuous improvement project in 81 villages including Xiabamei in Jinxiang Town, Cangnan County, the scene of vast green fields stretching for thousands of hectares is gratifying. Such a “Ten Thousand Mu” project, as the largest improvement project in the province, covers an area of about 36,000 mu with a total investment of 41 million yuan, according to an interview conducted by the Wenzhou Municipal Natural Resources and Planning Bureau on April 23.

Every inch of land is crucial to the national economy, and each plot carries the livelihood of the people. Behind the saying “the fragrance of rice flowers heralds a bumper harvest” lies the city’s commitment to utilizing the comprehensive land improvement as a “land project” under the new circumstances to create new space for economic development, inject new momentum into rural revitalization, and broaden new paths to common prosperity. According to statistics, Wenzhou has conducted centralized and continuous improvement of 26,200 mu of farmland through comprehensive land improvement project in the first quarter.

To improve the efficiency of “Multiple Fields Integration” (promoting the integration of spatial layout among arable land, permanent basic farmland, high-standard farmland, and grain production functional zones) in the areas of comprehensive land improvement project and implement the requirement of “gradually making permanent basic farmland become high-standard farmland”, Wenzhou is guiding its subordinate administrative regions to introduce high technology to empower the establishment of “Multiple Fields Integration” in the project areas.

The comprehensive land improvement project in towns in Lucheng District including Tengqiao Town has 4,000 mu of centralized and continuous arable land, among which high-standard farmland and cultivated land through reclamation and restoration cover an area of 500 mu. By implementing the “full mechanization + agricultural services” model in the project area, the introduction of advanced intelligent agricultural machinery and equipment such as unmanned rice transplanters, self-propelled straw choppers, and rice bowl-seedling transplanters has changed traditional agricultural machinery operations, further optimizing the layout of agricultural productivity, improving agricultural production efficiency, and achieving stable land area and increased yield per unit.

At the same time, the project has also introduced the construction of a modern agricultural service center project integrating nine service functions such as intelligent seedling breeding, drying center, and drone plant protection, providing farmers with services such as full-time mechanical plowing, plant protection, mechanical harvesting, and agricultural machinery maintenance. Currently, it has been selected as an “Agricultural Double Strengthening” project (to strengthen agriculture through technology and machinery) in Zhejiang Province.

In addition, to draw a new “urban-rural painting”, Wenzhou has incorporated urban-rural organic renewal, industrial transformation and upgrading, and well-being of the people into the overall construction of the project area. The reclamation of 70 mu of construction land and improvement of 1,030 mu of low-efficiency land were completed in the city’s comprehensive land improvement project area in the first quarter.

Longgang City takes land comprehensive improvement as the starting point and pioneers comprehensive urban-rural space governance in Huazhong Community, creating a modern basic unit of common prosperity. Using surplus indicators of construction land reclamation and revitalization indicators of low-efficiency construction land, the project constructs collective industrial projects such as the Jiangnan Courtyard homestay, the commercial complex, and the community property center, increasing collective assets by 20 million yuan and expecting collective assets to reach 70 million yuan after all projects are completed, with an annual collective income of 1.2 million yuan.

In terms of industrial development, the project utilizes over 1,300 mu of restored arable land to build high-standard farmland, stimulating the extension of the comprehensive agricultural tourism industry including agricultural sightseeing, ecological tourism, catering, and culinary industries in surrounding areas, creating the common prosperity workshop integrating agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries, and providing employment for over 300 people.
