Recently, the first national postdoctoral research station in Longgang City, Wenzhou, established by the Longgang Research Institute of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (LRI), was successfully approved by the Office of China National Postdoctoral Affairs Management Committee.

The postdoctoral research station serves as an effective vehicle for attracting young scientific talents, fostering innovative talents, and promoting the integration of industry and talents. Since Longgang was transformed from a town to a county-level city, it has prioritized the construction of entrepreneurship and innovation platforms to develop a multi-level, diversified, and multi-subject platform system, continuously refining the innovation consortium model of “leading enterprises + research institutes (universities) + industrial chains,” as exemplified by the LRI. The approval of the research station signifies a new breakthrough in the city’s efforts to build a high-level talent and research platform, providing new momentum for its development of new quality productivity.

The LRI focuses on serving Longgang’s printing, packaging, textile, and handicraft industries. Following the approach of “questions to be raised by enterprises, supported by governments, and solved by experts,” it emphasizes industry-academia-research (IAR) cooperation, key technology research and development (R&D), and the transformation of sci-tech achievements in areas such as printing and packaging design, green fibers and packaging materials, and intelligent manufacturing, to provide innovative power for Longgang’s economic restructuring and industrial upgrading.

Currently, the station has five postdoctoral researchers who have applied for over 20 patents and published more than ten papers in SCI and EI journals.

Additionally, they are actively engaged in IAR cooperation, assisting Wenzhou’s enterprises in obtaining two Zhejiang “Pioneer” and “Leading Goose” R&D Projects and three Wenzhou Major Technological Innovation Projects, and solving seven technical problems for enterprises, with over 20 million yuan of indirect economic benefits being generated. Two projects were recognized among the Top Ten Projects for Sci-Tech Breakthroughs, and two among the Top Ten Projects for Transformation of Sci-Tech Achievements in Wenzhou in 2023. Furthermore, they have helped local enterprises secure two Zhejiang Provincial Projects for Digital Workshop Construction, four Intelligent Technological Transformation Demonstration Projects and Digital Workshop Projects in Wenzhou, and eight Zhejiang Manufacturing Standards.
