Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) Aircraft Recently, Zhejiang’s Wing Unmanned Aircraft Technology Co., Ltd., a low-altitude enterprise based in Wencheng County, Wenzhou City, successfully delivered its first batch of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to China New City Group Limited in Hangzhou. This marks a significant milestone, as Wenzhou becomes the first city in Zhejiang province to complete the delivery of eVTOL procurement orders. Zhejiang’s Wing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wencheng County Transportation Development Group Co., Ltd., serves as the exclusive sales agent for Ehang Intelligent in Zhejiang province. EHang, a US-listed company, is the world’s first public enterprise specializing in urban air mobility (UAM). China New City Group Limited, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX: 01321), focuses on core businesses such as real estate development. Last year, Zhejiang’s Wing and China New City signed a procurement agreement for 150 eVTOLs, with a total value of 358 million yuan. The EH216-S aircraft, included in this delivery, is the world’s first and only eVTOL to have been certified with all three major approvals: Type Certificate, Production Certificate, and Airworthiness Certificate. The aircraft can carry up to two passengers and operate autonomously, following pre-set flight routes to enable point-to-point aerial transportation. To date, the EH216-S has successfully finished over 50,000 flight tests. Recognizing its high safety standards, environmental sustainability, and broad application prospects in sectors such as low-altitude tourism and urban air mobility, China New City plans to leverage Hangzhou’s rich tourism resources to pilot a commercial project that integrates low-altitude aviation with cultural tourism by utilizing the aircraft from this order. Including this recent deal, Zhejiang’s Wing has secured four orders to date, covering a total of 177 aircraft with a combined contract value of 423 million yuan. Moving forward, Zhejiang’s Wing, Ehang Intelligent, and China New City will deepen their partnership by jointly establishing a new company to further explore opportunities in low-altitude aviation, including drones and aerial vehicles. Meanwhile, Wencheng County aims to foster the industry growth by attracting production facilities and supply chain partners. By tapping into its potential, Wencheng is committed to becoming a smart hub for the low-altitude economy. |
