During the donation ceremony for the Wenzhou Garden Expo and 2025 Spring Festival Gathering of Overseas Wenzhouese on February 8, Overseas Wenzhouese associations and individuals from countries including Uzbekistan, Italy, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Thailand, and Canada contributed seven design proposals for international exhibition gardens. This act demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of their hometown. The China International Garden Expo, the nation’s largest and most prestigious exhibition with significant international influence in the landscaping and greening industry, is set to take place in 2026 in Wenzhou. Located in Ouhai District, the Expo’s exhibition gardens span approximately 230 hectare, divided into northern and southern zones. It will feature a classical Chinese garden theme park, 33 international and domestic city exhibition gardens, and six special exhibition areas. Over the past year, the United Front Work Department of the CPC Wenzhou Municipal Committee (Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office) has actively advanced international investment promotion efforts for the Expo. A distinguished cohort of overseas Chinese leaders was appointed as “International Exhibition (Investment) Ambassadors for the Wenzhou Garden Expo,” supported by the establishment of a dedicated recruitment team. Through targeted overseas promotion events focused on investment and talents, the initiative has effectively leveraged Wenzhou’s extensive global network to infuse the Expo with both international flair and distinctive Wenzhou charm. Since his appointment as a Wenzhou Garden Expo ambassador, Dai Anyou, President of the Association of French-Chinese Commerce and Industry, has fostered connections with overseas sister cities, landscaping companies, and industry professionals. French-style gardens, as one of Europe’s three major garden systems, are renowned for their unique charm, with Paris celebrated globally as a city of romance and art. Thanks to Dai’s efforts, the design team from Cime Architectural & Urban Planning Design Co. Ltd. maintained close and continuous dialogue with the Expo organizers, exchanging ideas and refining concepts. To ensure optimal results within budget and time constraints, the team revised their proposal multiple times, ultimately completing the design for the Paris Exhibition Garden in just 10 days. According to reports, the design, themed around French classical gardens, creatively incorporates “Matisse Red”, embodying the artistic essence of Paris, to craft a unique landscape. During the expo, it will highlight the splendor of French classical gardens while offering cultural exchange activities, a leisure café, and various amenities, enabling visitors to fully experience the allure of French garden culture. After the Expo, the garden will be repurposed to align with the Wenzhou Botanical Garden’s mission, transforming into a distinctive service station that features indoor and outdoor rest areas, retail outlets, light dining options, and boat services, ensuring its sustained value and utility to visitors. The event also featured an investment promotion for the Wenzhou Garden Expo. |
