At the beginning of the new year, the international operations department of Hongxu Group, an automobile dealer located in Rui'an, Wenzhou, has been busy receiving overseas clients, taking orders, sourcing vehicles, and arranging shipments… Sales representatives are fully engaged in every step of the used car export process. Last year, the group signed over 3,000 foreign trade orders, with the total contract value for used car exports reaching 300 million yuan, making it a major exporter in the city's used car export market.

It is learned that with the continuous increase in domestic car ownership and the strong push from trade-in policies, used car sales have been steadily rising. In addition to domestic sales, used car exports have emerged as a new trend in foreign trade development, with new energy vehicles, commercial vehicles, and construction machinery vehicles becoming the main drivers of used car exports. Since Wenzhou was approved as a new batch of pilot regions for used car export business in 2023, Rui'an has seized opportunities and made every effort to cultivate this new export sector. The volume of used car exports has grown year by year, especially since last year, when the pace of used car exports accelerated, becoming a new highlight in the city's foreign trade growth.

"The export market is primarily in the United Arab Emirates, and we have also developed markets in Russia, Africa, and countries around Kazakhstan. The export map is continuously expanding," said Liu Jun, director of the international operations department at Hongxu Group. As a company with over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Hongxu Group became the first enterprise in Rui'an to obtain used car export qualifications in April 2023. Leveraging its excellent cost-performance advantage, the group's used cars have successfully entered the Middle Eastern market. Currently, most of the group's used car exports are destined for the Middle East, with new energy vehicles being the primary type. Due to their high configuration and affordable prices, domestic new energy vehicles are gaining recognition in more countries and regions, leading to increasing overseas demand.

Promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the used car export business helps build a new development pattern for the automotive industry through both domestic and international cycles. However, used car exports involve multiple steps, including qualification filing, license application, deregistration, and customs declaration. To make the export process smoother, Rui'an has actively sought new energy exhibition booths at the Canton Fair to help enterprises secure orders. Meanwhile, the city has organized training sessions on used car export business for enterprises and appointed special personnel to follow up on export filings and provide one-on-one guidance. Currently, there are five used car export enterprises in the city. Additionally, Rui'an has collaborated with financial service centers and relevant banks to host financing matchmaking for used car export enterprises, offering special credit lines for used car export businesses, effectively alleviating corporate financial pressure.

According to statistics, Rui'an exported 3,901 used cars last year, with an export value of 460 million yuan.
