In the night sky over the Oujiang River, drones transformed into various patterns, creating a magical “dialogue” with the ancient pagodas of the Jiangxin Islet.

At the Jiangxin Islet in Wenzhou City, a helicopter gently landed on the lawn, and successfully completed a trial flight for the City Balcony-Jiangxin Islet route, opening the first “aerial passage” to the Jiangxin Islet.

On March 13, the Lucheng District launched a cultural and tourism aerial showcase over the Oujiang River, featuring a “helicopter inaugural flight + drone light show,” marking Wenzhou's entry into the era of “Three-dimensional Sightseeing in Low-altitude Economy.”

In the 1930s, the Jiangxin Islet was home to the Jiangxin Islet Water Airport, one of the earliest civil airports in modern Wenzhou and even  Zhejiang Province. At that time, residents of Wenzhou could reach Shanghai in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. However, this airport operated for only four years before halting services due to the war.

Yesterday afternoon, a Bell 407 helicopter carrying four passengers took off from the City Balcony helipad. After circling for 10 minutes in the sky, it made a smooth landing on the large lawn of the Jiangxin Islet. Nearly a century later, memories of civil aviation transportation along the Oujiang River banks have been revived, signaling a quiet resurgence in aerial tours of the Jiangxin Islet.

“The helicopter route is expected to open for public experiences in the near future,” said Zhan Zhiqing, chairman of the Lucheng Cultural Tourism Media Group. He explained that helicopter sightseeing is part of Lucheng's new application scenario of “low-altitude + cultural tourism,” aimed at activating new momentum for cultural tourism through a three-dimensional aerial sightseeing experiences and establishing a new high ground for low-altitude tourism in southern Zhejiang. Currently, the formal operation of the route awaits the review of standardized operating routes, with ticket prices yet to be determined.

That evening, a fleet of 500 drones took off in perfect formation from the Jiangxin Islet, transforming the night sky into a visual feast. The drones created dynamic patterns such as “Hello Wenzhou” “Shuomen Ancient Port” “Sailing Ship at Sea” “White Deer Holding Flowers”, and vibrant animations, providing the city's residents with a spectacular low-altitude performance.
