On March 18, it was learned from the Wenzhou Intelligent Equipment Industry Chain Office that in 2024 Wenzhou’s intelligent equipment industry achieved a gross industrial output value of 141 billion yuan from industrial enterprises above designated size (annual revenue ≥ 20million yuan), marking a 12.3% year-on-year growth. This growth rate ranked second among the “5+5” strategic emerging industries, positioning the industry as a key driving force for the high-quality development of Wenzhou’s industrial economy.

Currently, Wenzhou’s intelligent equipment industry has primarily developed in two key areas: highly competitive niche sectors focused on intelligent printing and packaging equipments as well as intelligent food and pharmaceutical processing equipments, and emerging segments such as laser processing equipments.

Taking the printing and packaging equipment industry as an example, Wenzhou is one of China's most significant clusters. Approximately 10% of the nation's enterprises in this sector are concentrated here, with domestic leading market shares achieved in multiple product categories such as die-cutting machines, paper cup machines, pillow type packaging machines, and premade bag packaging machines. The existing industrial base is primarily clustered in Rui'an, Pingyang, Longgang, and Ouhai. As of 2024, the city hosts nearly 1,000 printing and packaging equipment manufacturers, generating an annual output value of approximately 30 billion yuan.

Last year, Wenzhou prioritized the introduction of key projects, securing 60 intelligent equipment projects, each with an investment exceeding 100 million yuan, totaling 20.8 billion yuan. Key projects by companies such as Goldwind Sci & Tech Co.,Ltd. and Zhejiang Chint Instrument & Meter Co., Ltd. were successfully completed and put into operation. In a push for technological innovation, 5 intelligent equipment enterprises, including Zhejiang Yaguang Technology Co., Ltd., were selected as provincial-level enterprise technology centers. Over the year, 338 new provincial-level industrial products were added, with equipment from 16 companies, including Bestune and Zhejiang Yongan Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., approved as the First-Set Equipment. To enhance high-level innovation platforms, Wenzhou accelerated the development of China (Wenzhou) Smart Valley and China (Wenzhou) New Laser Valley while fostering provincial-level pilot zones for future-oriented industries. It also attracted 321 enterprises and research institutes, including Beijing Baidu Netcom Science Technology Co., Ltd. and CTTL. These efforts have further propelled the growth of emerging industries such as high-performance robots and emergency response equipment.

According to the Wenzhou Economic and Information Bureau, this year Wenzhou  will focus on enhancing enterprise quality and efficiency, attracting and developing high-end projects, hosting a series of promotional events, strengthening high-end resource allocation, and building advanced innovation platforms. Efforts will be concentrated on key segments such as intelligent laser processing equipment, intelligent food and pharmaceutical processing equipment, intelligent printing and packaging equipment, and industrial robots, aiming to establish a nationally significant cluster for specialized intelligent equipment. Wenzhou aims to add over 30 provincial-level or higher SRDI (specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative) enterprises, attract more than 30 intelligent equipment projects with investments exceeding 100 million yuan each, host over 5 dedicated matchmaking events, and establish more than 20 new innovation platforms.
