According to the Wenzhou Municipal Port and Shipping Management Center, Wenzhou Port has delivered an impressive performance in the first quarter of 2025, marked by a 10.67% year-on-year increase in cargo throughput to 20.5169 million tons. Container throughput rose 6.89% to 342,500 TEUs, while sea-rail intermodal transport volumes grew 5.23% to 2,014 TEUs.

This robust growth stems from the port’s strategic expansion of transportation networks. In container operations, Wenzhou Port intensified services on its Vietnam-Thailand routes, achieving a 35.46% surge in cargo volume. Efforts to boost domestic feeder lines between Wenzhou and Ningbo yielded an 11.94% increase. Operational efficiency improvements were realized through enhanced vessel turnaround times on regional routes and optimized berthing efficiency for the Ningyuan domestic feeder line. Leveraging the newly developed sea-river intermodal channel at Qingtian Port, the port has extended its services to Lishui, broadening its regional reach.

In bulk and general cargo segments, Wenzhou Port diversified its cargo base while maintaining traditional strengths. Steel logistics grew through optimized yard layouts and loading efficiency. The port expanded coal clientele in western Zhejiang, northern Fujian, and eastern Jiangxi, while developing inland coal sources to enrich cargo diversity. A milestone was achieved in March with the successful handling of imported ferronickel, signaling upgraded service capabilities.

Moreover, Wenzhou Port is enhancing communication and collaboration with land-based transportation, ports, and businesses through a “port + shipping + rail”cooperative model. This is propelling the development of an “efficient fast port,” laying a solid foundation for the sustained growth of Wenzhou Port.

As a pivotal hub along the “Belt and Road”, Wenzhou Port continues to strengthen its multimodal logistics network. Initiatives include promoting "road-to-rail" cargo conversion and streamlining transshipment processes through direct "ship-to-ship" and "ship-to-truck" operations. Collaborative models integrating port, shipping, and railway sectors have accelerated the development of a high-efficiency port ecosystem, reinforcing Wenzhou’s role in global supply chains.
