The Yueqing Bay Port Area of Wenzhou Port has officially launched a feeder line to Ningbo, with containers bound for the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

On the morning of May 28, the Yueqing Bay Area officially inaugurated the Wenzhou–Ningbo feeder line. That day, 99 TEUs of containers were loaded onto the vessel Xinyiyang 5, which departed for the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

Operated by Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co. Ltd., the line currently runs twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Cargo is shipped directly from Yueqing Bay Area to Ningbo Zhoushan Port, where it connects to international shipping lines. This line will significantly promote the shift from road to water transport for goods from industrial zones in Yueqing, Yongjia, and along the northern bank of the Oujiang River. It also integrates with the sea-rail intermodal transport network linking inland dry ports such as Shangrao, Yongkang, and Yiwu to Yueqing Bay, helping build a more comprehensive and better-connected logistics service system. The launch is expected to strengthen Yueqing Bay’s transshipment capacity and regional reach, injecting fresh momentum into the local economy.

As one of the three core port areas of Wenzhou Port, Yueqing Bay Area is the only one with direct railway access, making sea-rail intermodal transport one of its key strengths. The new feeder line establishes a seamless international trade corridor to Ningbo Zhoushan Port and complements the existing service at the Zhuangyuan’ao Port Area. The sailing frequency of feeder line is expected to reach 12 to 14 times per week, with the flexibility to increase based on cargo volume. This two-way logistics channel offers lower costs, higher efficiency, and better services for clients in southern Zhejiang and for trunk shipping lines.

In recent years, the Wenzhou Traffic and Transportation Bureau, together with Wenzhou Port Group, has promoted the integrated development of “near-sea route + feeder line + sea-rail intermodal transport,” driving structural improvements in container shipping. At present, Wenzhou’s near-sea routes link it to more than ten countries and regions in Northeast and Southeast Asia, while domestic lines serve major coastal ports such as Yingkou, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, and Jingtang. From January to April this year, Wenzhou Port handled 29.34 million tons of cargo, up 11.36% year-on-year, and 468,000 TEUs of containers, a 9.1% increase. During the preparation of this feeder line, the Yueqing municipal government took the lead in coordinating with Wenzhou Port Group, shipping lines, and logistics agencies to visit local exporters, identify service needs, draft support policies, and jointly promote the new route—laying a solid foundation for its launch.

Looking ahead, Wenzhou Port Group will continue to leverage its feeder network to aggregate cargo, enhance its role as a feeder port for Ningbo Zhoushan Port, strengthen cargo sourcing, expand the container logistics network, and optimize transport channels. These efforts will boost the high-quality development of Wenzhou’s container business and inject fresh momentum into building the “Golden South Wing” of a world-class port and a near-sea shipping hub in South Zhejiang.
