On 12July, Wenzhou Longwan International Airport celebrated the 35th anniversary of its inaugural flight and officially launched the “Wen Qing Fei” service brand at Terminal 2. This marks a strategic shift from “quality service” to a full-fledged “service branding” initiative. Since its first flight on 12 July 1990, the airport has undergone transformative growth—from a small regional airfield to a major transportation hub. Originally opened as Wenzhou Civil Aviation Station on 23 June 1990, it featured a single 2,400 m runway, a 5,000 m² terminal, and capacity for only three Class C aircrafts. Over the years, the airport expanded significantly: 1994 – Opened a 6,700 m² domestic terminal 2006 – Added 2,100 mu of land and extended the runway to 3,200 m 2008 – Commissioned a new 36,500 m² terminal 2011 – Unveiled an international terminal handling 300,000 passengers annually 2013 – Launched a 3,200 × 60 m runway, accommodating large aircraft like Boeing 747 and Airbus A330 2018 – Opened Terminal 2 (116,000 m²), entering the double-terminal era and joining China’s 10-million-passenger airports club. By 2024, passenger volume soared to 12.53 million—a nearly 190-fold increase from the inaugural 66,000 travelers. Service quality evolved in parallel. Early team brands like “Rainbow Service” and “Supreme Service” have grown into a comprehensive, full-process system. In 2024, the on-time departure rate improved by 13.16 pp compared to 2019, and domestic flight cut-off time was reduced to 35 minutes. The airport also received CAPSE’s “Service Excellence Award,” was named an “Outstanding Airport for Service Facilities” for handling 5–20 million passengers, and had multiple service initiatives featured in “Outstanding Civil Airport Service Cases in China.” The newly unveiled “Wen Qing Fei” brand focuses on four service areas: Transit Passengers – Pioneering “Four-Frees” services and 60-minute fast transfers, paired with the “Fly and Explore Wenzhou on Just One Ticket” tourism package Smart N+ Team – Offering pre-booking and a “Six-One” smart closed loop for significantly improved flow efficiency First-Time Flyers – Guided full-process assistance, including “Ou Yun+” wheelchair service and “Little Aviator” unaccompanied minors support Aviation Experience Zones – Featuring an aviation hall and airport market, with ticket discounts and bundled scenic packages to boost travel consumption As Zhou Xiaoli, Party Secretary and Chairman of Wenzhou Airport Group, explained: “‘Wen’ reflects our city’s warmth; ‘Qing’ denotes heartfelt service and civic care; ‘Fei’ stands for efficiency and ambition.” He emphasized that the airport is accelerating its transformation from a “transport carrier” to a “value platform,” aiming to become a major regional international hub and underpin Wenzhou’s role as a third-pole of high-quality development in Zhejiang. At the launch, the airport introduced its service mascot “Wen Xiao Di” (Wendy)—modeled after the deer, a cultural symbol of Wenzhou—serving as a friendly, professional guide for travelers. In celebration of the anniversary, the airport is offering a ¥100 flight ticket voucher to first-time flyers from Wenzhou, Taizhou, Lishui, Jinhua, and Ningde. Available through credential verification via scan, the vouchers can be used on Ctrip, Tongcheng, Fliggy, and other platforms—making “Wen Qing Fei” a tangible benefit for the public. |
